Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith stated that he is thinking of running for duty in the coming years if he believes he can win.
Smith has been faced as a bombastic commentator in the spheres of sports and politics.
Previously, he denied that he would ever run for president, saying that the last conversation to do this only rose because of the Democrats’ despair of a leader.
However, ESPN’s host spoke at the National Association of Transmitters’ Convention (NAB) in Las Vegas on Monday, where he stated that recent events have changed their minds.
He posted a connection with a story about his comments on X and said, “Time to stop the mess. Life is great. Especially at Espn/Disney. Hate the thought of being a politician. But sick of this mess. So I’m officially leaving all the doors open.”
“In recent weeks, I have had no choice but to be more serious about it,” he said at the NAB event. “I was approached by people in Capitol Hill. I was approached by people who were elected official officials, whether governors or mayor or what you have. People have asked me legally, seriously, asked me about it.”
He continued to repeat that while he does not want to become a politician, he will run for a duty if he thinks he has a way applicable to victory.
“I have no desire to be a politician. My life is [going] Very well, but I decided that I won’t close that door anymore, “he said.” I will keep my options open. I’m going to have fun. ”
Speaking about the future, Smith suggested, “If it comes in late 2026, 2027, where I look at this place and I think it is an absolute mess and there is a legitimate reason to believe – whether it is through exploratory committees or anything else – that I really have a legitimate blow to win the presidency of the United States.
According to Forbes, he is also reported to have brought out politicians, saying: “I personally perceive politicians as professional beggars. You always have your own hand, and people need something in return.”
But even so, he said that while more and more people have prompted him to become one, “over the past few weeks, I had to become a little more serious about him.”
Smith noted that he would have to “hunter for several months” to study various issues, but said he would look forward to the debates.
“Imagine me in a phase of debate with these people, these politicians,” Forbes quoted Smith. That’s what I do for a living. I’m not a politician. I don’t have a political record for them to rely. I can challenge what you say literally [as politicians]. They would all know more than me at this special time, but they have a record to address. “
“They better hope I’m not interested, I’ll tell you so much,” he added. “I don’t like any of them [the prospective 2028 candidates] For now. ”
