Tooth to say, most people do not brush their teeth well.
There are many ways to deceive such a simple act – you do not hit all the points, you do not do them enough and do not do it quite often.
A $ 299 dollar electric toothbrush may be exactly what the dentist ordered. The smartbrush phenomenon brushes your teeth for you-and AI’s accompanying technology scans your mouth for signs of problem.
“The mouth is entering the rest of the body, and if we take care of it, it will reward us with our general systemic health. It is not just about white teeth, right, it has to do with overall health,” Post Dr. Kenny Brown, CEO and co -founder of phenomena.
Brown, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, launched smartbrush last summer. It comes in three U-shaped parts that boast about 18,000 Nylon bristles, a handle that holds the brush in place, and a charger attached to the handle.
Now, it looks a little strange. The brush makes it look like your chompers are bigger than life, à la Jim Carrey in “The Mask”.
But it seems to sound with male tekkies that enjoy ease. Although he would not share customer numbers, Brown said his novel’s tool is also gaining ground with women.
“Be honest with yourself,” Brown encouraged potential buyers. “Do you really feel like you are painting with the right technique when considering time, pressure, movement, being able to do it constantly over and over again? This is where the phenomenon comes in.”
How does smartbrush work?
To begin with, you make very indecent pictures of your mouth so that the phenomenon sends the brush of the right size.
The company, based in Culver City, Calif., Used data from over 20,000 mouths to design the mouth to ensure that they are brought to reach all the right places.
The $ 299 package comes with the mouth, handle, charger, three foam toothpaste tubes, a tongue scraper and a free month of pheno plus membership.
After watching a two-minute video and charging the device, you are ready for the engine.
The process is easy enough-place the mint foam between the bristles, press the Start button and move the device to a circular motion. The vibrations stop after 20 seconds, the signaling of your mouth has been thoroughly cleaned.
The speed is adjustable-it goes up to 250 20-second strokes-and Brown said some patients decide to make 20 seconds each in the top and bottom of their mouths.
Users can follow their oral health with Feno Plus membership, an additional $ 9.95 per month. A scanner embedded in the handle takes detailed pictures of the mouth, which are analyzed to provide personalized health knowledge and exercise.
Brown said the custom ratio can identify problems with problems, such as the recession of the gum line, a lesion in the soft tissue and tooth decay, but does not replace a journey to the dentist.
How does a pheno stand
Electrical toothbrushes are generally considered more effective than manual toothbrushes, but concerns have been raised about the value of automatic electrical brushes in the U -shaped.
An Italian study of 2020 – released years before the phenomenon brush hit the market – determined that these brushes do not effectively remove the toothpaste.
“Washing with a U -shaped toothbrush can not be as good as a traditional toothbrush,” the post told The Post Joseph Brofsky, Chief of Pediatric Dentistry for Northwell Health.
“The idea makes sense because all teeth are being combed at the same time, but the result may not really work,” Brofsky added, which was not involved in the 2020 study.
Brown said the phenomenon is more effective than other toothbrushes with full coverage because the mouth of the mouth is properly in the mouth, the nylon is stronger than the traditional silicone and engine in the device “gives a comprehensive movement with the right washing technique.”
What are the shortcomings?
The phenomenon is not for everyone. People with bra or temporary crown should not try it, said Brown, as well as children under 15 because they do not have an adult dental bow.
Those who take diving can suffer bleeding for three to five days after breaking.
“What is happening typically there is that it is the washing areas of your gum that may not have been touched that way,” Brown explained.
Users also need a smartphone with at least iOS 11.0 or Android 5.0, otherwise, they will have problems taking pictures of their mouth for fit, downloading the app and receiving custom -made recommendations.
The brush works regardless of technology, with Brown stressing that an efficient cleaning is the essential purpose followed by the access and consciousness provided by the bells and whistles of it.
Another possible concept is the cost. The phenomenon advises taking a new brush every three months to prevent the creation of bacteria.
“What we’re seeing is that people are using it much longer,” Brown said. “It will not be separated to you and disintegrate, but we recommend three months.”
What else is there?
Brown hopes the product evolves in several ways.
Adding more sizes is an advantage, such as accommodation of children, people with lost teeth and those with bra.
Additional foam aromas are also in taps. The only offer is now mint, which enjoys medicinal and can disable brushes that prefer external fragrances.
New versions of the device will have a longer battery life, Brown said, and will be easier to pack in a suitcase.
He is also seeking to put phenomena in dental shops and offices.
Beyond the brush, Brown is considering starting other products. Imagine a play or mint that can refresh your breath – and be good for your oral health.
“This is something we are playing with,” he said.
