Bill Maher Criticizes Harris Avoiding Reporters: ‘More Offensive’ Than Trump’s ‘Enemy of the People’ Slam

“Real Time” host Bill Maher suggested that Vice President Kamala Harris’ cold shoulder to the press is “more offensive” than former President Trump’s years of verbal attacks against news organizations.

“What do you think about Kamala not talking to the press?” Maher asked CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on Friday.

“In some ways, I feel like it’s more offensive than what Trump is doing,” Maher continued. “Trump says you are ‘the enemy of the people,’ which is very bad.” What she is saying is: ‘I don’t need you. I’m not talking to you. You don’t matter. You are no longer relevant to me.’ To me, that’s even worse than ‘I hate you’. It’s like ‘I’m not thinking about you'”.

“I don’t know if it’s worse than denigrating the press on a daily basis, which Donald Trump did,” Collins replied. “I covered him at the White House every day as a correspondent. And, you know, often times he’ll kind of, you know, shake you up if you’re asking him a question, he’ll try to get into a personal argument with you, or just deny or lie about what you’re asking. And so I don’t know if I would compare the two.”

“I think she should talk to the press. I think anyone who wants access to the nuclear codes should be willing to sit down and ask questions. And we want to have that on the show,” Collins added.

“I would too,” Maher replied. “But I won’t hold my breath.”

It’s been more than a month since Harris emerged as the Democratic nominee and she still hasn’t done any interviews or press conferences.

Trump, meanwhile, has regularly made himself available to the press by giving interviews and press conferences.

Earlier this month, Harris suggested she schedule an interview before the end of August.

On Thursday, when asked by Fox News’ Peter Doocy if she was ready to do an interview with Fox News, Harris joked, “I’m working on it.”

Harris has faced little scrutiny during her meteoric rise to the top of the Democratic ticket.

Among the top questions swirling around her include the litany of progressive positions she has departed from since her first run in 2019, what concrete policy plans she intends to pursue as president, and the cover-up of President Biden’s mental decline.
