Google Waymo self-driving robotaxis can be put up for people looking to own vehicle

Waymo’s self-direction robotaxia may be available for personal ownership in the future, said CEO of the Sundar Pichai alphabet.

Vehicles are currently the only driverless robotaxis to collect travel fees in the US, operating a fleet of 700 vehicles, with a majority center in San Francisco.

“There is a future option for personal ownership,” Pichai said during a call after Thursday profits, though he did not give a timeline or details on the possible sale price.

Waymo’s presence has been on the rise, completing more than 250,000 fully paid autonomous trips each week, alphabetically. Robotaxis are on the road in San Francisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles and Austin, with plans to expand to Atlanta, Miami and Washington, DC.

“This is probably the first question I received in a profits call to Waymo,” joked Pichai after being asked about personal ownership. “Is a sign of progress.”

Google does not produce vehicles themselves, instead of relying on partnerships with Uber, MOOOE funding site and key automobiles such as Hyundai, Jaguar and Chinese manufacturer Ev Zeekr.

Driverless Taxis are based on a combination of costly Lidar cameras and sensors to create road maps.

The Rivalja Tesla, which plans to launch a June Robotaxi Pilot Program, uses only cameras and artificial intelligence for his driving machines, allowing him to maintain low costs-and competitors in the breast, according to CEO Elon Musk.

“Teslas probably costs a quarter, 20%, from what a Waymo costs and made in very high volume,” Musk said on Tuesday during a profit call.

The launch of the Robotaxi in June, which will take place in Austin, Tex., Is likely to be limited, as it is just a pilot program to begin.

“I predict there will be millions of Teslas acting autonomously – completely autonomously – in the second half of next year,” he said during the call.

Tesla also aims to launch its Robotaxi service in several other US countries this year. Analysts have warned that this could be a long order, as its self-direction technology has fought in more complex scenarios, such as rough weather, intricate intersections and unpredictable pedestrian behavior.

Musk’s automaker will dive his fingers in new legal waters with robotaxis, having previously only treated a partially autonomous driving.

It has long been blamed accidents involving his autopilot and complete self-direction systems to the leader, arguing that he warns them to stay alert and ready to get the wheel.
