Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del, stated Monday in CNN that the average middle American probably has no idea where Greenland is on a world map.
Outgoing in CNN’s “inside politics”, COONS made the comment as it destroyed the Trump administration’s continued efforts to make Groenland part of the SH.BA
The legislator said, ”says your middle middle average,“ Why are you wasting your time worrying about Greenland? I can’t even find it on a map. “
President Donald Trump has repeatedly offered Greenland to become part of the US, emphasizing the country’s importance for international security to renounce China and Russia’s expansion in the Arctic. Greenland is currently a Danish territory, but is seeking its independence from Denmark.
Despite Greenland officials opposing Trump’s offer, the president has expressed confidence in the purchase of the territory. During a recent interview with NBC News, he said, “We will get Greenland. Yes, 100 percent. There is a good option that can be done without military force.”
However, he added, “I don’t remove anything from the table.”
Trump’s comments seemed to disturb CONS.
“He threatens an ally of NATO with military action,” he told CNN’s Dana Bash, referring to Denmark. “It’s is crazy. It’s uncontrolled.”
“And we could spend all our time by pleading and pudding how ridiculous it is, but see, your average Trump voter laughs with us and says,” He’s owning libs, “he said. The senator then claimed that typical middle Americans do not even know where Greenland is.
The Trump White House Rapid Response Account Slammed the Senator for the Comments, Posting Monday, “Showing their True Colors: Democrat sen. @chriscoons think â â â â ˜your middle americanâ ™ is too.
Trump repeated his reasons for buying Greenland last week.
“If you look at Greenland now, if you look at the waterways, you have Chinese and Russian ships all over the country, and we will not be able to do it,” Trump told reporters on Friday. “We are not relying on Denmark or anyone to take care of that situation. And we are not talking about peace for the United States, we are talking about world peace, we are talking about international security.”
Reps for Sen. COONS did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
