Meta’s boss Mark Zuckerberg is aggressively lobbying the Trump administration to resolve the antitrust case of the Federal Commission against the company before going to trial later this month, according to a report Wednesday.
The Facebook founder, who has tried to convenience with President Trump since his election victory, was noticed at the White House on Wednesday while the prepared administration announces its latest trade policies, reported Wall Street Journal.
The visit marked the third time Zuckerberg has traveled to the White House since Trump took office. Conditions of the proposed flaw of flaws were not known.
FTC is looking to break down Meta by eradicating her Instagram purchases and WhatsApp. The agency has claimed that Meta bought companies in order to stagnate competition before they could challenge its dominance on social media. The trial is scheduled to begin on April 14.
Some Trump administration officials have deceived Meta tactics and think the company has been very aggressive in calling for a solution, sources told the newspaper.
Trump is reported to have yet made a decision whether to be elected.
Meta spokesman Andy Stone refused to comment specifically on Zuckerberg’s appearance in the Oval Office.
“Mark is continuing the meetings he is holding with the American technology management administration,” Stone said in a statement.
Representatives for the White House did not immediately return a comment request. FTC did not accept the comment.
Trump has claimed renewed authority over the FTC since taking office, issuing an executive order aimed at giving it a more direct impact on the agency, which was traditionally seen as independent of the White House.
Last month, the president fired from the two agency’s Democratic Commissioners, who have since indicted to return his movement. Meanwhile, FTC Mayor Andrew Ferguson, a Republican, referred to the agency as “FTC Trump-Vang” and supported the President’s decision.
Ferguson has pledged to remain aggressive in obtaining anti -compliant behavior from large technology firms – and recently signaled that his agency was prepared to face meta in court.
“We’re getting ready for test,” told Ferguson Bloomberg. “We’ve got some of the best FTC lawyers, and we’re getting ready to go. This trial has spent five years in doing.”
Meta and Zuckerberg have also pushed the Trump administration to fight against the latest European Union movements for beautiful American technology firms for violating its own competition rules.
As the post reported, the European Commission, EU Antitrust Supervisor, is expected to hit meta with a fine that could exceed $ 1 billion for inconsistency with its digital market act.
Meta is driving Trump officials to intervene as part of an attempt to weaken the sentence or even Nix it all.
