Patel recently confirmed an increase in Swatting incidents when one tries to send armed police to another person’s home under false claims, aiming at media figures and their families.
The act, she said, endangers the lives of the victims and responded to the officers.
“Under the leadership of President Trump, we will not sit idle -new conservative[s] The media and their families are being targeted by false Swatting, ”Noem wrote in a post on Wednesday.
She added that DHS is capable of tracking phone numbers and tracking location information.
“We will use them to hunt these cowards,” Noem wrote. “This is an attack on our law enforcement and innocent families and we will follow it as such.”
Noem posted after several conservative media members, including radio hosts, podcasters, influencers and experts, became victims of alleged Swatting incidents in their homes.
Joe “Pages” Pagliarulo, a conservative radio hospital host, told Fox News News Cain host that during a Swatting call at his home in Texas last week, he woke up at 2am by more than a dozen armed MPs.
Pagliarulo said he received an alarm from one of his security cameras and saw an armed MP with an AR-15 on his front door.
“[I] Call 911 because now we have to find out – if they are good guys, I have to be very careful. If they are bad people, I have to go out with my weapon and try to protect my family, ”Pagliarulo said.
The dispatchers confirmed that the Sheriff’s office received a 911 call about a hostage situation with many dogs shot, apparently claiming they were Pagliarulo.
Swatter claimed that someone was “bleeding from above” and to “please rush and get inside”, making the situation even more tense for both MPs responding.
“That’s the thing. None of those things was happening,” Pagliarulo said. “My family was sleeping peacefully. I was working in my office. Nothing was going wrong at my house. But this guy, wherever he happened to be, was trying to take the police to break the door and maybe kill me or scare us enough to where I would close my mouth and not do what I do on the radio every day.”
As the MPs destroyed the situation, Pagliarulo said, “Your heart rolls out of your chest.”
Pagliarulo said he immediately Texmi Patel, who issued a statement about Swatting the next day.
“I want to address the alarming increase in” Swatting “incidents aimed at media figures,” Patel wrote in a social media post on Friday. “The FBI is aware of this dangerous tendency, and my team and I are already taking action to investigate and keep them responsible.”
He added that the issue is not about politics.
“The reinforcement of law enforcement against any American is not only morally reprimanded, but also endangers life, including those of our officers,” Patel wrote. “This will not be tolerated. We are fully committed to working with the implementation of local law to hit these crimes.”
Other conservative media figures, including Podcaster Nick Sortor and Hostin Shawn Seed, reported Swatting similar incidents last week as Pagliarulo, while the Infowars Shroyer host loaded a 13-minute video on Wednesday sharing that he was just shaken.
A Bipartizan law, Bicameral was presented in January to strengthen sentences against those who were found guilty of making shaky calls, imposing up to 20 years in prison for false calls resulting in serious injury or death.
Bill Cosponor Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, described Swatting as “political terrorism” in a statement on Friday.
“Many conservative influencers and experts have made their homes in the past days,” Gill wrote. “This is an extremely dangerous form of political terrorism. It is responsible for someone to be killed, and it must end now.”
DHS did not immediately respond to the requests of the Fox News Digital for comment.
