The growing democratic party of the star rap. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, argued that Americans need illegal immigrants because they do the work that the educated college in this country will not do.
Crockett reportedly made comments while talking to the southwest festival (SXSW) on March 8.
In a video clip that went viral on Friday, Crockett showed that Americans do not send their children to college in the hope that they will end up choosing the crops and cleaning the hotel rooms, but this is what immigrants do.
“How many of you are sending your children to college?” Crockett asked the crowd.
“How many of you are sending your children to college to go and work on farms?”
After no response, Crockett added, “Okay, so, guess who is working farms so you can handle your food? So you can have food.”
The congressman continued to show what Americans do not want their educated children in college to offer these services and goods.
“Now, how many of you are looking to send your children to hospitality after this college education so they can go and make beds in hotels?” she asked.
“How many of you are planning to send your children to college – because this is what we do, we send them all to college – how many of you are planning to send your children to college so they can go and build these houses?” She continued.
“So the reality is, as long as we live in a capitalist society, there will always be someone, or a group of people, it will do work that some of the rest of everyone do not want to do,” Crockett said.
“These are the people who really make us great in this country. They pay for taxes. And guess what? They are unable to withdraw from social security. So make people turn away from them and aim for them, this is not what makes us great,” she concluded.
Crockett was on stage with journalist Errin Haines, the big 19th news editor.
Haines posted the clip on her social media earlier this week before the re-split on Friday, where she caught over 1 million views in four hours.
In the title for the original video, Haines said she demanded Croats for President Donald Trump’s efforts to “significantly restrict immigration”, including authorizing the implementation of immigration law to attack churches and schools and support funds for holy states and cities.
Crockett is not the only Democrat who has made this argument in recent years.
Rep. Jerry Nadler, DN.Y., made similar comments last year, saying the country needed “many illegal immigrants” or our vegetables would “rot on earth”.
In 2023, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz also said that vegetables in her state would start “decay” due to an anti-illegal immigration law.
Former chairman Nancy Pelosi said in 2022 that farmers need illegal immigrants “to choose crops” in Florida.
Crockett drew attention last week to claim that entry illegally was not “a crime”, despite being a violation of federal law.
Improper entry into the United States is considered a federal offense crime in violation of 8 USC 1325, punishable by a fine and up to six months in prison for the first time offenders.
Repeators of the offenders can undergo fines and up to two years in prison.
