Brian Williams, the former NBC News anchor who moved to a late-night show on cable news channel MSNBC after pleading guilty to falsified claims about reporting under duress during the war, is in talks to lead Amazon’s coverage of the U.S. presidential election. of the year 2024.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the Seattle-based e-commerce company is in advanced discussions with Williams to host a special election night broadcast on Prime Video.
Williams, 65, who left Comcast-owned NBC in late 2021 after anchoring “The 11th Hour” on the left-leaning cable channel, would anchor coverage that would include pundits and news personalities analyzing the events. of the day this coming November 5, the Journal reported.

Amazon’s coverage of the election will include Williams hosting the broadcast from a studio in Los Angeles beginning at 5:00 PM ET, according to reports.
Sources told the Journal that a deal between Amazon and Williams could be reached as early as this week.
Sources cautioned that the Williams deal should not be seen as Amazon seeking to return to the news.
News of the talks between Williams and Amazon was first reported by Variety and Puck.
The Post has sought comment from Amazon and Williams.
Williams was the main anchor of NBC News from 2004 until 2015, when he was suspended for falsely claiming that he had been in a helicopter hit by enemy fire during the Iraq War.
A subsequent investigation revealed that he had made other false statements about his experiences covering the events, and he lost his job.
He was later given the 11pm slot on MSNBC, which he turned into an entertaining newscast summarizing the news of the day.
